Tuesday will feature a big media event from Apple, with rumors circulating that a new iPod nano, Touch, and ITunes will be released. What interests me most -- much more than the iPod intros -- is the rumor that iTunes will come packaged with something called "Genius," which will choose songs that go well together. It's like Pandora, one of my favorite web apps in the world (which, btw, is rumored to be in trouble financially because of regulation issues). Here'sthe info tipped to Kevin Rose (founder of Digg):
Tunes 8 includes Genius, which makes playlists from songs in your library that go great together. Genius also includes Genius sidebar, which recommends music from the iTunes Store that you don't already have.
I LOVE this idea! I just recently formatted my computer and lost all my playlists (I backed up my music, but not the playlists, sadly). So I've been rebuilding slowly, but it's a difficult task to strike the right chord for whatever event. Genius looks to ease my pain! Can't wait!
